My Personal Learning Goals

I would like to learn as much as possible in this class. I know teachers are using new technologies in their classroom. I would love to know and learn the different types of technology. I have know teaching experience, and no one in my family is a teacher.  I have a lot to learn about new technologies and how to applied it. Technology plays an enormous role in children, adults and teachers. As a future teacher, the more I am informed about technology , the better I will be able to understand students, their backgrounds and their learning needs. I can benefit from this class and classmates to become a successful teacher.

  1. Hi Shirley,
I understand where you are coming from because I do not have any teaching experience either, and I also have a lot to learn about technology. I think this class is going to help us get started on our teaching career. We are going to learn a lot from this class and it will help us become successful educators.

  2. Hi Shirley,

I don't think there is a need to be nervous or apprehensive about not having any teaching experience, we are all here to learn! I too am in this class because I am excited to learn about new technologies that I can apply in my eventual classroom. I like how you pointed out that by understanding technology, you will be better able to relate to your students. That is so true! It seems like kids growing up these days are already more efficient with technology than we can ever be! That's why I think we have to work twice as hard to stay up-to-date and thus be able to relate to them. Great post. I hope that we can all achieve our own and classroom-wide goals together throughout this semester.

  3. Hi Shirley,
I do not have any teaching experience either; however, I believe that if I can learn as much as possible in this class and other education courses, I will prepare myself to be a teacher. I also do some observation during this semester and I will pay more attention to how to use technologies in the class. I think if you do not have any opportunities to teaching, you can do some observation. We are going to learn a lot from this class!

  4. Shirley,

I completely agree. This class is a necessity to teaching in the 21st century. The only teaching experience I really have is that from what I remember as a student and even that is so different from the way schools are today. I am excited to learn about all the ways we can incorporate technology into our lessons as teachers.

  5. Hello Shirley,

Sometimes it seems really overwhelming thinking about incorporating technology when you have no teaching experience. However, your education here at St. John's will help you overcome this. I can tell you that is definitely gets easy to think how to improve when you have some experience and see how a classroom really works. You don't even need to be the teacher- your hours for Academic Service Learning with suffice!

Good luck and don't worry- you'll be fine!

  6. Hello Shirley,
I am in the same shoes as you, no one else in my family is a teacher but I have known since an early age that I wanted to become one when I grew up. I am eager to learn new technologies and strategies to use in the classroom like you. In the "21st Century Classroom" I am sure that I will be learning a lot about technology through my students experiences. I am open to learning in different facets, learning goes both ways. The students will be taking away knowledge from the classroom and I will be learning a great deal from them as well.
